San Antonio’s own Embrey Partners Ltd. has been named a top multifamily developer by Novato, Calif.-based Crittenden Research Inc.

Embrey Partners took the No. 4 spot on Crittenden’s Apartment Report for the first quarter of 2014.

The developers were ranked according to the number of new apartment units they plan to start over the coming year.

Embrey Partners is on track to develop more than 1,400 new units this year. The residences will be spread out over several communities in Texas, Colorado and Tennessee.

Among those starts for Embrey Partners are two multifamily developments in the Alamo City. In February, Embrey announced plans for a new apartment complex within the  Legacy Shopping Center on the far North Central Side. A month later, the company broke ground on a new complex behind the Rudy’s restaurant in the city of  Leon Springs, just northwest of San Antonio.

The Business Journal also has highlighted some of Embrey’s out-of-town projects — like GreenVUE, a new Class-A community in  Richardson, Texas; and the new luxury complex in the Ken Caryl Ranchneighborhood in  Denver.

“The last three years have been the best consecutive years in the history of the company,” says  Trey Embrey, president of Embrey Partners.

Embrey was one of only two Texas firms to nab a Top 10 spot on Crittenden’s top developer list. The second was Austin-based Forestar Group, which came in at No. 9 with more than 600 project starts for 2014.

“It’s been a crazy time, but a fun time,” Embrey continues. “We’re having a good time delivering great real estate.”
