Cindy Ash returned to Embrey Management Services in 2010 where she brought 25+ years of executive management experience, her attention to detail and mentoring style to ensure owned and third party properties remain profitable and deliver the expected results for all stakeholders. With Cindy as President, our properties have never scored higher in resident satisfaction surveys. Cindy has successfully integrated and managed the consistent growth of Embrey Management Services, from 2,000 units in 2010 to over 6,500 units in 2017. During her career, Cindy has led the lease-up of over 20,000 of new construction units. She has become a property management industry spokesperson, not just a subject matter expert.
Her responsibilities, authority and accountabilities range from leading the Regional Managers of the multiple properties to acting as HR leadership and then, one of her favorite roles, as a mentor and coach. Cindy reflects, “I am most proud of the culture I have developed and nurtured at Embrey. Companies are only as good as their people so holding the staff accountable and aligning them with this company’s core values is the reason for our success. My job is to keep the teams focused on those values.”
Prior to Embrey, Cindy was Vice President of Capstone Real Estate Services in San Antonio, President of Embrey Management Services in San Antonio and Vice President of Operations at Lexford Properties in San Antonio.
Cindy and her husband, David live in San Antonio and love to spend time at their cabin on the creek in Wimberley.
Vice President of Client Relations
Alex brings more than nine years of multifamily experience to Embrey as the firm’s first Vice President of Client Relations. He specializes in investment advisory, deal sourcing and client relationships. His background includes all aspects of multifamily brokerage, acquisition, disposition, development, new business and financial analysis.
Before joining Embrey, Alex was vice president of Pinnacle overseeing over 5,000 units and 125 employees while leading expansion efforts of the corporate office and companywide underwriting platform. Before Pinnacle, he was the director of business development at Alliance Residential where he was awarded 61 properties, over 15,000 units and was the ICON award recipient. He was also a partner at top performing multifamily brokerage teams at Colliers International and Berkadia and sold 11,000+ units at a market value of $719+ million.
Alex holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration with minors in psychology and sociology from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
Director of Training
Brenda rejoined the Embrey Management Services (EMS) leadership team in 2017 as the Director of Training. She facilitates the training, education and implementation of programs and projects for Embrey’s EMS employees.
Brenda began her property management career as a leasing consultant with Greystar. Her passion for mixed use urban developments led to community manager positions for Post Properties and later Sentinel Real Estate. Brenda’s urban development experience and fast-paced management style provided her the opportunity to manage both stabilized and lease up communities in several markets including Houston, Dallas, Phoenix and Denver. In 2008, Brenda was selected to serve as a regional manager with Abbey Residential in her hometown of Houston.
In 2010, Brenda relocated to Denver as a community manager with Embrey. She successfully repositioned her community in a competitive market by improving resident retention and fostering relationships with area businesses. Brenda was promoted to a regional manager position with Embrey in 2011. She oversaw 1,968 units in the Denver, Dallas and Kansas markets.
Brenda now considers Denver her second hometown and enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with her family in the mountains.
A native of San Antonio, Texas, Sherrie joined Embrey in 2012, adding her 18 years of property management experience to the company. As a Regional Manager, she is responsible for all facets of residential properties, including preparation of annual budgets, financial cash flow forecasting, profit and loss statements, management and marketing plans. Sherrie also has developed and oversees a proactive resident retention program to ensure low turnover expense.
Sherrie has built her property management career in San Antonio, starting in 1994 as a Lease Up Assistant Manager at Lexford Properties in San Antonio. After a five-year tenure, Sherrie moved to become General Manager at Sentinel Real Estate, then became the Property Manager for Westdale Asset Management. From that point, Sherrie advanced to greater responsibilities, including positions at Western Rim Property Services as their General Manager and at Capstone Real Estate Services in 2009, where she was responsible for a property of 1,552 units and served as District Manager until she joined Embrey.
Sherrie attended Concordia University and is a Licensed Real Estate Agent, as well as a Certified Apartment Manager.
Amy Lassers joined the Embrey Management Services leadership team in May 2015 as a regional manager overseeing 1700 units in the Denver and Dallas markets.
Known in the industry as an action-oriented and marketing-minded professional, Amy adds over twenty years of experience to Embrey Management Service’s leadership team. Amy began her property management career as a community manager in Orange County, CA with The Irvine Company Apartment Communities and later with BRE Properties, Inc. where she supervised several lease-up communities. In 2006, Amy was named district manager at BlackRock Realty where she was credited for maximizing profitability through strategic hiring efforts, a successful $2M capital project, and tactical rent positioning at seven communities consisting of nearly 2000 units.
In 2010, the Lassers family was relocated to Colorado where Amy continued to hone her leadership skills as a regional property manager for Echelon Property Group. Amy oversaw the stabilization of three Class-A lease ups, increased NOI by 11% at the stabilized communities, improved other income by 21% and managed multi-million dollar capital projects for an eight-property portfolio consisting of over 1500 units.
Amy, a native of Toledo, Ohio, enjoys raising her family in the Denver area where she loves the weather and the outdoor activities. Amy is an avid, competitive runner and she is currently working to obtain a degree in Organizational Leadership and a CAPS designation.
Tony joined the Embrey Management Services leadership team in 2015 as a regional manager overseeing 1600 units. Tony’s path into the multifamily industry, like many, was unconventional – as he began his professional career as a journalist and host in Los Angeles, California. Tony, originally from San Jose, CA, began his property management career in Burbank where he advanced through a series of promotions from community manager, to marketing and training, and operations manager for management companies to include Avalonbay Communities and Sequoia Equities Inc.
The Sousa family relocated to the Lone Star state in October of 2014. As a senior business manager for Alliance Residential Company, Tony oversaw all residential operations for Eilan, a premiere luxury community in northwest San Antonio. Tony’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge coupled with his engaging and entrepreneurial approach to business serves the EMS leadership team well.
Tony is a graduate of the University of Southern California where he earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism.
Leesa, a certified apartment manager, began her career in property management as a leasing professional with Embrey Management Services in 1997. With a steady and proven track record in the industry, Leesa was afforded a leadership role as a district manager overseeing 1,078 units in the San Antonio and Laredo markets. Leesa crafted her expertise in property management while spearheading lease ups for eight newly constructed communities to include the successful lease up of Brackenridge at Midtown, a class-A luxury community planned around the new Children’s Museum of San Antonio.
Leesa also oversees the on-site management team at the exclusive Grand at the Dominion, the first multi-family rental community in San Antonio’s elite Dominion area located in the northwest corridor of San Antonio and Ridgeline at Rogers Ranch, a community located in the quiet and exclusive San Antonio neighborhood of Rogers Ranch.
Jessica Kelly joined the Embrey Management Services team in March 2019 as a regional manager in the San Antonio market with 16 years of property management experience. She began her career as a leasing consultant with a national management firm in 2003, where she advanced within the company to assistant property manager then the property manager position. Jessica transitioned to the NRP Group, where she continued to take on greater responsibility, holding roles such as operations and training manager, district manager and regional manager.
Jessica continued to build her multifamily industry expertise as regional manager at Roscoe properties, responsible for 2,900 units. During her career, Jessica has managed a variety of asset types from luxury urban lease-ups, to re-energizing stalled lease-ups, to renovation and stabilized assets. The range of assets has allowed her to work one-on-one with owners, buyers, brokers, and lenders during inspections, audits, due diligence, acquisition, growth and dispositions.
With a passion for leadership, team development, financial management, training and creative marketing, she is able to support her team to ensure each community stands out among its competitors both on digital platforms and in the local community. Through positive leadership, and positive reinforcement, she successfully builds teams with the same drive and commitment as owners. She is a native of Texas and enjoys spending time with her family and adventuring through the great outdoors.
Sameera joined Embrey in 2011, and in the fall of 2018 was promoted to District Manager. Leading up to this promotion, she was the community manager for eight years at Pinnacle Apartments, a senior community in Houston. Sameera’s in-depth knowledge of the unique aspect of managing tax credit communities has prepared her for this next phase of her career.
She now oversees the operation and physical integrity for four of our Houston communities. She monitors and maintains rents as dictated by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. Sameera also monitors changes in utility allowances to ensure compliance with regulations. She will complete and/or approve all Low Income Housing Tax Credit and Bond Reporting as required by the state of Texas and various lenders.
